Tomorrow Robert and I leave for a weeklong visit to Phoenix for Thanksgiving. I am so excited!!! We are going to hang out with my dad and his side of the family.
For once, I will have a legitimate excuse for not blogging all week. I know ya'll are well accustomed to my absenteeism by now, so I won't worry about being missed. ;o)
My other latest and greatest excuse is that I'm writing my first book ever. And you know what? It's actually coming along. I feel like I finally broke through to the other side of this giant brick wall that kept me from knowing where to begin with writing a book. But it's all becoming clear to me now.
Wish me luck, and you all have a beautiful, happy holiday now!
Posted by Maria at November 19, 2005 05:08 PM | TrackBackhave a lovely time. I like the Phoenix area a lot, with the exception of Scottsdale, which as been dubbed Snottsdale. nearly everyone I met in that town thought their shit didn't stink, including the guy I was d@ting at the time and his entire family.
Posted by: girl at November 19, 2005 05:22 PMKnow what ya mean, girl. Everyone in Scottsdale thinks it's the Beverly Hills or Bel Air of the desert. It's definitely a bit pretentious. Snottsdale is a good nickname. Hahaa. My mom was raised in Mesa and my dad in Phoenix. Phoenix has always been a kind of crazy city if you ask me, but it's pretty cool. I'm just excited about the warm weather! I'm gonna be swimmin' while my friends here in NY freeze their butts off for the next week. That's the best part. All I want is this week, then I'll come back and face the cold ass weather with a new tan! Ptttth.
Posted by: Maria at November 19, 2005 10:45 PMyes yes. the year-round warm weather is definitely a b0nus. I nearly died there over the summer once. I remember walking out of a restaurant at 8pm and I nearly threw up. I had to run back inside b/c the heat and humidity (apparently July/August is their humid time of the year) completely took my breath away. after we got into the car, I look at the thermostat and it read 112 degrees. ridiculous!
I'm actually happy to finally have some cool weather in the Houston area. Mother Nature has been screwing with us all Fall. we've had the a/c off for a record 3 whole days now!

Posted by: P at November 20, 2005 11:09 PMThat sounds like a kick-ass vacation. I'm excited to be having Kathleen in town for a few days. The weather's been beautiful here, cold as hell, but bright and sunny. Enjoy the sun for me and have a very Happy Thanksgiving Day!!
