A joke sent by a good friend:
There's a teacher in a small Texas town.
She asks her class how many of them are Bush fans. Not really knowing what a Bush fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raise their hands except one boy--Johnny.
The teacher asks Johnny why he has decided to be different.
Johnny says, "I'm not a Bush fan."
The teacher says, "Why aren't you a Bush fan?"
Johnny says, "I'm a John F. Kerry fan."
The teacher asks why he's a Kerry fan.
The boy says, "Well, my mom's a Kerry fan, and my Dad's a Kerry fan, so I'm a Kerry fan!"
The teacher is kind of angry, because this is Texas, so she says, "What if your Mom was a moron, and your dad was an idiot, what would that make you?"
Johnny says, "That would make me a Bush fan."
Posted by Maria at October 21, 2004 12:30 AM | TrackBackFunny-but you know Ailey kinda had this conversation at school last week. They asked the kids who they would vote for if they could..naturally my daughter said Kerry but told the teacher her mother was for Bush. This teacher I think must be a kerry supporter herself but she told Ailey that it was good that she wasn't just going along with her parents..Ailey really threw the monkey wrench in with her Dad...Jason is a Libertarian so he didn't vote for either man. Aileys' teacher must think we're all crazy in this house.
Posted by: sandy at October 21, 2004 03:50 AMHey girl..I noticed you ain't posted in a while..you're either real busy or you're back is blown out again..I have had the worst feeling that you're not feeling well..hope I'm just being paranoid! :)
Posted by: sandy at October 22, 2004 09:37 AMSandy! You're fucking psychic. My back went kaboom yesterday morning at work and I've been laid up ever since. Hopefully I will be well enough to post soon. Right now I have to lay down again. Thanks for thinking of me! You're the best.
Posted by: Maria at October 22, 2004 01:41 PMSorry to hear about your back 'going out'.
Don't know if it helps you, but try a long, HOT shower to relax the muscles in your back. It doesn't work with my wife, but it might work for you...
Posted by: Mad Mikey at October 22, 2004 01:43 PMOh buddy. Thanks but I'm not allowed to use heat for another 24 hours. During the first 72 hours it's ice only, lots of rest, anti-inflammatory meds, muscle relaxers and lots of trips to the chiropractor. I've had back problems for quite awhile, so I'm pretty well versed in the routine. I have two bulging discs in my back and feels about like one exploded yesterday, so it takes A LOT to ease the excruciating pain. Thanks for the well wishes.
Posted by: Maria at October 22, 2004 01:53 PMI can't say 'I feel your pain' (guffaw!), but my wife has a couple of blown discs herself.
Posted by: Mad Mikey at October 22, 2004 02:19 PMMan..I sure was hoping I was wrong..am I psychic? haha..no, I just been reading you too long..but I DID have a bad feeling about you..I can't explain it. I sure hope you get to feeling better..I just wished you could be rid of this back problem.
Posted by: sandy at October 22, 2004 03:16 PMWhen I was diving I had back issues all the time. I went to a GP who did some contortions on me and it was gone in a day. He taught me how to do them myself and I haven't had a problem that lasted more than a few hours since.
Posted by: Geoffrey at October 22, 2004 03:35 PMGeoffrey, that's pretty lucky! Even the best doctors and chiropractors that I've been to have been unable to fix my problems. I guess if I was just out of alignment or had muscle spasms, it might be easier to deal with, but since I have two damaged discs which cause severe inflammation in the surrounding nerves and muscles, it's a whole ordeal. My lower spine feels like a wasteland. I just keep telling myself it could be worse. I could be paralyzed like Christopher Reeve, so I try to be greatful that it is just a couple of blown discs. It's hard to tell yourself that when you have pain that refuses to subside, but I'm trying to be positive about it!
