Blurb

I wasn't going to write about the debates until tomorrow, simply because there was a lot to digest, but one thing I can say with total certainty is that I was struck by the contrast between Bush and Kerry. While Kerry was calm, cool and presidential, Bush was a whiney, defensive child who repeated himself ad nauseum, fumbled repeatedly, didn't disappoint the common perception that he's a terrible speaker, and failed to effectively respond to the many solid, succinct points that Kerry made throughout the course of the debate. I think Bush failed miserably and Kerry came out looking strong, assertive, and far more educated, intelligent and realistic. Bush seemed borderline dillusional as he failed to properly grasp the scope of the topics. He showed what a one track mind he has. I found it excruciating and sometimes hilarious to watch him. Even after hearing John Kerry pronounce "Nuclear" correctly several times, Bush still pronounced it "Nucular."

Hey thanks for the props my friend. Always good to have another Kerry supporter stop by. I am often inundated with Bush supporters! (I've learned to love some of them though. Scary. Don't tell my mom okay?)

hate to do this maria

but it is offical - geoff at dogsnot is truly out of his mind.

He just posted that he thinks Bush won that debate hands down.

I won't even bother trying to argue with him anymore because I liken him to that of a 4 year old child. Old enough to speak, old enough to be somewhat coherent in his ramblings, but so close minded, so biased, so wrapped up in his own little world, that no matter what you say, do or put in front of him, he will only see things they way he wants to see them.

THAT is truly a sick and sad person. But fortunately, people like that are in the vasy minority and their vote is meaningless.

Posted by: nunya at October 1, 2004 12:35 PM

First of all, I don't know what makes you think Geoff's vote is meaningless. Second of all, I think this is an issue you should take up with him at HIS site rather than here.

Posted by: Maria at October 1, 2004 12:36 PM

why do to bring it up here? because your site has voices of reason. Why I don't bother posting over there? Because they get edited, I get forged, and they cannot hold an adult conversation to save their asses.
By confronting them at another site they visit, I am able to get the message to them out to the world without them changing it.
And Geoff's vote is meaningless because what it represents. He doesn't want Bush into office because his views on issues are in line with what Bush thinks - he wants Bush into office because he hates progressive thinking. He wants the right wing in charge because he is an overly aggressive person who thinks fighting is the only way to spread peace (how ironic is that).
Maria, I don't attack Geoffrey, the person, I attack what he represents. Geoffrey the person means nothing to me, but he is a character behind the philosophy that I so vehemently despise. I really hope you can understand where I am coming from. Again, you are one of the few voices of reason in a right wing dominated Internet.

Posted by: nunya at October 1, 2004 12:45 PM

I think I've made it pretty clear that I don't want my site being used as a forum for others to fight their battles that relate to content or purveyors of other blogs. You can say it's not personal, but if it isn't then why mention names? I have repeatedly addressed this issue with you before Nunya. Don't bring your battles here.

Posted by: Maria at October 1, 2004 12:53 PM

P.S. Nunya, I sympathize about the forging and degradation that goes on at DogSnot, but as I've said before, you need to stop obssessing about them. Maybe just stop visiting that site if it aggravates to the point of actually dominating you.

Posted by: Maria at October 1, 2004 12:59 PM

Like I said, it isn't about THEM per se, but about what they represent. Think of it like terrorists. It is obvious we hate terrorists. We are in a war with terrorists. But wehat good is fighting with them if they have no faces or forms. Geoffrey isn't the target, what he represents is. But since he gives form to the very things I am against, than that is how it is.

While I respect your "rules" here Maria, again, I ask, what good is fighting for what you beleive is right if you aren't willing to throw the punches?

Even MLK and Ghandi were willing to fight. Sitting back, not saying a word about the things we stand against, being silent never got any cause any place.

Posted by: nunya at October 1, 2004 01:12 PM

and also, turning away and ignoring the very issues I stand against, does not make them go away.

If all I did was go to sites that agreed with what Is and avoided the mad mikeys, geoffreys, chets of the world, than what have I really accomplished.

Yes, there is a purpose to what I say. You may not agree with it, but if only one person goes there and says "hey, somewhere in there is a point, maybe I should think about things differently" then I have accomplished something. God knows I don't want people to think like I do. I am a pessimist and someone who thinks most people have a very hard time thinking clearly about thw world. But at least I try to do something about it. By coming onto the Net, standing up to these types of people and trying to get a message to the readers, then i feel I have at least tried.
Quelling these voices doesn't solve the problem, it only adds to it.

You have just made the perfect argument for why you should start your own blog. Because this is not a forum for you to approach others on issues at their sites. It is MY WEBSITE. MY BLOG. You don't have to tell me about standing up and voicing concerns. I do that everyday here. Nunya, you need an outlet, that's for sure. But this is not it. Either address Gordon and Geoffrey regarding their beliefs at their site, or create your own site at which you can post daily regarding your frustrations with their views. I will come and visit.

Posted by: Maria at October 1, 2004 02:21 PM

The word "obsessed" comes to mind.

Posted by: Geoffrey at October 1, 2004 02:53 PM

nah, the word "asshole" normally comes to mind.

Posted by: nunya at October 1, 2004 03:06 PM

Here we go again.

Posted by: Maria at October 1, 2004 03:07 PM

Nah, I shouldn't have said anything. You already made any point I would have. He's obsessed. He can't give help but mentioning me. It may be love.

Posted by: Geoffrey at October 1, 2004 03:22 PM

Damn, Maria...

As much as I disagree with everything you say (usually), I have to give you a ten for how you handle your site and how you convey your thoughts.

Honest to God if your replies knocked people out (those who deserve it; no names mentioned), they'd be dead on their ass in a heartbeat.

Posted by: Vickie at October 1, 2004 05:43 PM

Well Vickie, I'm going to take that as a huge compliment coming from you.

Posted by: Maria at October 1, 2004 07:15 PM

Meant as such.

Posted by: Vickie at October 1, 2004 08:24 PM

I'm a little hurt that Nunya didn't mention me in his list of bad people. I'm bad, ain't I? It's because I'm a woman, isn't it? ;-)

Posted by: Rosemary the Queen of All Evil at October 1, 2004 09:13 PM

nah, you just accept what the repubs expect of you rose. see, you COULD be independent if you wanted to.

Posted by: nunya at October 2, 2004 01:33 AM

He doesn't mention me either which say volumes cause he fears me.

I'm hurt nunya.....that cuts deep.

And Maria does handle herself and her site very even handedly.

Posted by: Mad Mikey at October 2, 2004 01:33 PM

I think Nunya is Geoff's stalker.

It's very strange for a person to be so obsessed with another.

Posted by: Gordon the Magnificent at October 4, 2004 06:49 PM

He's cyclical - he's all over the blogsphere for a while, then he hibernates.
