Win

In case you didn't already know, I'm a lifelong David Bowie fan. He is one of the most amazing, original artists of all time.

This was one of my favorite songs to listen to when I was a swooning teen and when I hear it now, it reminds me of a time when I was fearless and living life with total abandon. I love how music encapsulates memories...

Win

Me, I hope that I'm crazy
I feel you driving and you're only the wheel
Slow down, let someone love you
Ohh, I've never touched you since I started to feel
If there's nothing to hide me
Then you've never seen me hanging naked and wired
Somebody lied, I say it's hip
To be alive

Now your smile is spreading thin
Seems you're trying not to lose
Since I'm not supposed to grin
All you've got to do is win
Me, I'm fresh on your pages
Secret thinker sometimes listening aloud
Life lies dumb on its heroes
Wear your wound with honor, make someone proud
Someone like you should not be allowed
To start any fires

Now your smile is spreading thin
Seems you're trying not to lose
Since I'm not supposed to grin
All you've got to do is win

David Bowie used to rock. I love his work in the seventies but after that he was a sellout. They called him a "musical chameleon" because he always changed his music to meet fashions and trends. It's too bad, he was great the way he was. Plus that whole affair with Mick Jagger. I get the shivers picturing those two all drugged out and going at one another with reckless abandon.

Haha. I'm sure you shiver all over thinking about that. I pity you that your subconscious mind torments you so. ;o)

I agree that David Bowie's old stuff far, far outdid anything he's done lately. But still, I love him and will forever be a huge fan. There's never been anyone like him, and I can't imagine there ever will be again.

The great David Bowie living in his own legend. Have you ever seen "Mr. Christmas, Mr. Lawrence"?

He's said to have felt his life was buried in sand; re: the ending.

I love the new music tips, thanks. Anything to find new music. I shall give it a go.

Well if it were Fabio instead of Mick I might feel differently.

hahahahaha

my fav Bowie is

The Bewlay Brothers

And so the story goes
they wore the clothes
They said the things
to make it seem improbable
The whale of a lie
like they hope it was
And the Good Men of Tomorrow
Had their feet in the wallow
And their heads of Brawn
were nicer shorn
And how they bought their positions with saccharin and trust
And the world was asleep
to our latent fuss
Sighing, the swirl through the streets
Like the crust of the sun
The Bewlay Brothers
In our Wings that Bark
Flashing teeth of Brass
Standing tall in the dark
Oh, And we were Gone
Hanging out with your Dwarf Men
We were so turned on
By your lack of conclusions

I was Stone and he was Wax
So he could scream,
and still relax, unbelievable
And we frightened the small children away
And our talk was old
and dust would flow
Thru our veins and Lo!
it was midnight
Back of the kitchen door
Like the grim face
on the Cathedral floor
And the solid book we wrote
Cannot be found today

And it was Stalking time
for the Moonboys
The Bewlay Brothers
With our backs on the arch
In the Devil-may-be-here dark
But we can't sing about that
Oh, And we were Gone
Real Cool Traders
We were so Turned On
You thought we were Fakirs

Now the dress is hung,
the ticket pawned
The Factor Max that proved the fact
Is melted down
Over on the edging of my pillow
Now my Brother lays upon the rocks
He could be dead, He could be not
He could be you
He's Chameleon, Comedian, Corinthian and Caricature
Shooting-up high in the sky
The Bewlay Brothers
In the feeble and the bad
The Bewlay Brothers
In the blessed and cold
In the Gretch-hungry dark
Was where we played our mark
Oh, and we were Gone
Kings of Oblivion
We were so Turned On
In the Mind-Warp Pavilion

(Lay me place and bake me Pie
I'm starving for me Gravy
Leave my shoes, and door unlocked
I might just slip away
Just for the Day, Hey!
Please come Away, Hey!)

That's another beauty Cul. Thanks :o) Viva La Bowie.

Donna you crack me up! I've never seen that movie, but I'll definitely check it out. I didn't think there were any movies with David Bowie in it that I hadn't seen. When my sister and I were children we swooned repeatedly while watching Labyrinth. The obsession continues.
