I have seen both of the major documentaries Moore has made. And granted, he adds a little spice to things, most of what is in these films are cold hard facts and unedited footage. Like in Bowling for Col. - was it "propaganda" or "money grubbing" of moore to include footage of asshole Charlton Heston raising a rifle above his head only 2 weeks after the school shooting IN Colorado saying they will have to pry it out of his cold dead hands? I think not. Is it "liberal rhetoric" to see that while the percentage of gun owners in canada in relation to their population far out numbers ours, yet we have over 11,000 gun deaths a year in this country compared to their 364.

On real issues then - Maria, I saw the film last night and it did not surprise me or make me any more angry than I already am at the administration. There were very few facts in the film that I didn't already know about. But unlike Bowling for Columnbine, this film surprised me in the fact that Moore had much less commentary than in Bowling which makes Farenheit all the more damning to the Bush camp. I expected more Moore commentary, but the facts and footage spoke for Bush quite well. People like Geoff/Gordon can only argue the slant Moore puts on it to a very small degree - sure the film was slanted, everyone knows that going in, but the facts that are presented are from the horses mouths and nobody can argue that.
That said, there was a few republicans there who went in witha closed min but came out with a very different view of things. They too agreed it was biased but one said to me "I am sorry but I cannot argue many of the facts, it was an eye opener."

My market targets small and some medium sized businesses and residential customers doing anywhere from simple pc repairs up to designing networks for businesses and securing other established networks. I also do some consulting work for large businesses. I have a few people working for me, a couple of which are full time and the others work on an hour-by-job basis.
Needles to say, I do hobnob with other business owners who mostly happen to be republicans, and that is where I get my distaste for them because most business owners are anywhere from shady to outright crooks. They know how to "get around" certain things such as using tax loopholes and they are very thankful to the Republican Party for making that possible. I do not, however, take part in that kind of bullshit. My upbringing makes me consientious of these things and in good conscience; I cannot be shady like those people.

Saw the film last night. You obviously haven't, or you'd have realized that much of what fatty stated as "fact" was either misrepresented, edited out of context, or blatantly false. He included just enough truth to make the extremely stupid buy into his propaganda.

All kidding aside? Not that you will believe me, but I own my own business. My market targets small and some medium sized businesses and residential customers doing anywhere from simple pc repairs up to designing networks for businesses and securing other established networks. I also do some consulting work for large businesses. I have a few people working for me, a couple of which are full time and the others work on an hour-by-job basis.
Needles to say, I do hobnob with other business owners who mostly happen to be republicans, and that is where I get my distaste for them because most business owners are anywhere from shady to outright crooks. They know how to "get around" certain things such as using tax loopholes and they are very thankful to the Republican Party for making that possible. I do not, however, take part in that kind of bullshit. My upbringing makes me consientious of these things and in good conscience; I cannot be shady like those people.

Now, to get back on topic, in all seriosuness - have you seen the film yet?

Perhaps YOUR reality, cumley. But the rest of the non GOP world sees Bush and co. for what they really are - chickenhawks waging war for the benefit of their own and their friends bank accounts. Allowing kids to die so they can have a gateway to more oil, invading other countries to spew more neocon capitalism (which means as the old addage says - the rich get richer), and to promote a completly corrupted version of democracy that only makes it possible for profits to sore for them at the expense of everyone else, is not a very good "reality" to live in.

And Geoffrey, go look at older comments on your toilet bowl blog, and there are plenty of references to you and your alter egos saying I never served. Everyone already knows it so don't try to weasle out of this like you do everything else.

I am saying that our version of democracy (which has greatly changed from bad to wrose in the last 4 years) is not good for anyone but the rich.
