There was a fatal stabbing in my neighborhood two days ago and I just heard about it from Kathleen while we were out last night. Two old guys were arrested over at Amici who apparently had something to do with the stabbing of a 52 year-old man (five times!), possibly with a kitchen knife. Fucking weird. There are a lot of tough guys in this area though. Greek and Italian tough guys. So it doesn't really surprise me all that much. I'll have to keep an eye out for the whole story.

"65-year-old reputed mob figure described by a law enforcement official as "erudite and sophisticated" fatally stabbed his brother-in-law yesterday on the street in front of a Brooklyn restaurant of which the victim was a co-owner, the police said.
The suspect, Andrew Gargiulo, who law enforcement officials said ran such a successful bookmaking operation that he once forfeited $1.5 million as part of a plea deal in a gambling case, was arrested in the stabbing in front of Amici Restaurant at 9202 Fort Hamilton Parkway in Bay Ridge, the police said. He was charged with second-degree murder and weapons possession.
Mr. Gargiulo, identified by several law enforcement officials as a soldier in the Genovese crime family, used a hunting knife to stab Preston J. Geritano, 57, the police said."
Was I right or what? These are the types of people I was just talking about. My neighborood is their mecca.
