Whether You Like It Or Not

My boyfriend sent this to me and I had to post it because it is too true.

Things you have to believe to be a Republican today:

1. Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for your recovery.

2. The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq.

3. Government should relax regulation of Big Business and Big Money but crack down on individuals who use marijuana to relieve the pain of illness.

4. "Standing Tall" for America means firing your workers and moving their jobs to India.

5. A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.

6. Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.

7. The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

8. Group sex and drug use are degenerate sins unless you someday run for governor of California as a Republican.

9. If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.

10. A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our long-time allies, then demand their cooperation and money.

11. HMOs and insurance companies have the interest of the public at heart.

12. Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound foreign policy. Providing health care to all Americans is socialism.

13. Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools.

14. Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.

15. A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense. A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy.

16. Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.

17. The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George W. Bush's driving record is none of our business.

18. You support states' rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft can tell states what local voter initiatives they have a right to adopt.

19. What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the 1980s is irrelevant.

20. Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

Just a reminder:

"When the government fears the people, that is LIBERTY. When people
fear the government, that is TYRANNY."

-Thomas Jefferson

Well...there are us "moderate" Republicans...I don't believe in more than a few on that list...there is huge difference in the parties..not all Democrats are Liberals and not all Republicans are GOP, Rush Limbaugh lovin, gay hating warmongers.

I know Sandy. You are not a gay hating warmonger at all. That's why I can never figure out why you think of yourself as a republican or how you can support George Bush, since he IS a gay hating warmonger! Your values seem much more liberal sometimes. Of course, not all liberals are hairy pitted, granola eating, deadbeat, retards as the conservatives like to make them out to be. I do, however, consider myself a liberal. I do not consider myself an extremist. I do not consider myself the same as many other liberals I see out there, nor do I believe that I hold every one of the same ideals as all other liberals. Quite the contrary. Sometimes I think that as a whole, liberals are lacking as much balance as republicans are. But I generally think the balance that liberals lack does less harm to the world over than that which republicans lack. So what can you do? Stand by what you believe in. But hopefully what you believe in (and I'm not talking about you Sandy, because I already have tons of faith in who you are as a human being) isn't based in deep rooted hypocrisy.

btw I fuckin' hate Rush Limbaugh....

Oh me too. He is a real fucking douchebag.

You know what just occurred to me? It doesn't make sense to label ourselves, because the world is so full of morons that it doesn't make a difference what you call yourself. It doesn't mean that you truly identify with others who call themselves that, but only that you identify with what you believe to be the definition of the word with which you label yourself. (Phew, I'm out of breath) But the truth is that if you look up Democracy and Republic in the dictionary, they have nearly identical definitions. So where is the difference? It's not in what we call ourselves. It's in our actions. Republicans generally define the character of their party with selfish actions to benefit themselves & that which directly interests them while Democrats generally define their party with the characteristic of trying to save or rescue everything which exists outside of themselves, often counteractive to our own interests. That's why they call us "bleeding hearts." I think if people really just acted more based on what their values are rather than what they have labeled themselves, there would be a lot less squabbling. And if people cared a little more about OTHERS (!!!lightbulb!!!) and a little more about the planet we live on and a little LESS about MONEY (which is all anybody fucking cares about in this world), life would be more harmonious all around. (Oops, I think I just revealed my liberal-ness...)

Man my brain is working overtime today...

Maria?

Your boyfriend rocks. And yes. Bush IS "a gay-hating warmonger.

I fucking hate him. That's strong but it's true. He's an enemy to humankind.

I fucking hate him too. And so does my boyfriend. Sometimes he just shakes his head and says that out loud: "god I fucking hate Bush." It's become like a mantra to people worldwide.

I swear Maria... same in our household. When Neil and I got through watching his "anti-Gay" statement the other night, Neil looked over at me and said, "I think I hate that fucking asshole more than any other human being on earth". I simply nodded in agreement.

Sanctamonious prick he is....
