It's such a comfort to see that while Bush claims to be pledging all this new money to education reform, he is cutting spending on educational programs, along with a host of other valuable programs such as an alcohol abuse reduction program (you'd think Bush would support that), recreation programs for the disabled, aid for migrant farm workers, an initiative to promote "educational equity" for girls and women, Olympic scholarships and arts in education (yeah, really. Who needs art anyway?) It's obvious to me that this president likes spending money on tax breaks for the wealthy, weapons and waging unjustified wars far more than he likes spending money on things which benefit society and America as a whole.

Some of the disabled programs could use a little slicing off of. The schools here tried to integrate handicapped children into public schools, for the most part I was okay with it but than they put a girl with severe cerbral palsy into my daughters classroom. This child was my neighbor so I know what she was receiving but on top of that since she was in a public school they had to hire an aid for her, the lady was getting 15bucks an hour to sit and stare and Meghan, occupational therapists were coming and she was already getting that from the clinic. The school spent alot of dough on a special swing for her, equipment, etc..and 3mths later they dropped her, it took them 3 mths to figure out this girl was beyond their help...ironic thing the mother didn't want her to go in the first place, the state literally bullied the mom..it was a financial mess from my standpoint...computers could have been bought or an art teachers salary could have been paid with that money.
