Caught some sort of live super bowl celebration on mtv being broadcast from Houston. The crowd kind of sucks. Wanda Sykes came on and was not in true form, Pharrell came on with N.E.R.D. and sang Frontin' which I thought was hot, but the crowd is a bunch of jocks and cheerleaders and just weren't feeling his sexy R&B vibe. I'm sure he gets a better response in New York. The crowd did, however, rock out to Puddle of Mudd and I have to admit, so did I. Who knew I would run into so much eye candy at this ungodly hour. I don't seem to get tired of watching Pharrell -- not to mention that Puddle of Mudd singer. Wes Scantlin is his name. Looked him up and found this little interview with him. He's unlucky in love. That's just too damn bad. Hahaaa. Just kidding Robert.
I am beat. Haven't gotten to sleep anytime before 1:30 a.m. for the past couple weeks. The 25 year old brickhouse is starting to feel it. This week has had some twists. It burned me out. I'm going to sleep until noon tomorrow (today). You betta believe it.
Posted by Maria at January 31, 2004 03:23 AMI was in bed before 9pm...never though I'd see the day when I would lose my energy. 25 is about when I really started to slow down..way down but with age comes a comfortableness that you're not afforded being really young. I love getting older, I am however having a major issue with the new gray hairs springing out..I've been coloring my hair since I was 16 and in the last year decided to let the natural come out. I called my mother and she laughed, all the women in my family go salt and pepper pretty early. I'm not even 40 yet!!! But in a fucked up way I don't want to dye it. My husband has been pretty white up top since he turned 34 and he gets better looking too and it doesn't seem to phase him.....but it does bother me that I don't know who the fuck Wanda or Pharrell are or N.E.R.D. I"ve always prided myself with keeping up w/the times....guess I'll have to watch some MTV today to catch up..but the Puddle of Mudd dude..very sexy...me likey!!!haha You'll have to tell about your turning twisting week and thanks for the nice words concerning my brother.
Posted by: sandy at January 31, 2004 01:52 PMThere is definitely a lot to be said for growing older. And my own mother claims that her forties have been the absolute best years of her life. Her hair is still pretty golden, so I'm holding out hope for myself. My dad's hair seems to get blacker as he gets older, for some reason, with streaks of gray running through it. Weird.
Anyway, don't worry about not knowing who Pharrell and Wanda are, I am a media junkie. (Although I usually don't watch Mtv because it mostly just makes me want to vomit.) Pharrell is still just slightly underground, though he seems to be emerging quickly. He sang in that song "Beautiful" with Snoop Dogg and on a couple of songs with Jay-Z, but he has been producing music for a long time and is coming forward more now as a frontman and he's just really damn sexy. As for Wanda Sykes. Oh Sandy. You would love Wanda. She's a comedian and she is fuuuunnnnyyyy. You need to look her up. You'll get a serious kick out of what she has to say.
Posted by: Maria at February 3, 2004 11:08 AMOh wait,,she's the black comedian w/her own show..okay I know who she is..was thinking she was a musician, didn't recogonzie her last name..she is hilarious. She's the one Bill Cosby kinda got ugly with at that awards show...
Oh my gawd..I've been blogging all morning and those people at Right Voices better known as boycott hollywood have their panties in a knot cause people saw Janets' tit at half time..I missed it, so can't say but am under the impression it was an accident and the boob was supposed to have a tassle or something..anyway..I can't tell you how many times my boob or my girlfriends boobs popped out while swimming...this is an incident where I can understand europeans laughing their asses off at us..we show some of the most violent shows on tv but heaven forbid we show some skin. I've always though Janet was a very tasteful entertainer...can't imagine her really wanting her breast exposed in the first place..but it happened, nobody got hurt...I'm just dying that some people are so upset..one person actually wrote that a 7yr old got scared, thought Justin was gonna "rape" Janet...now where on earth would the child get that idea? hmmmm...his fucking mother no doubt..people suck sometimes..americans suck sometimes
Posted by: sandy at February 3, 2004 02:56 PMI saw it and I think people are making way too big of a deal out of it. I completely agree with you that it is so disproportionate to freak out over something like that, when it's the same parents who would allow their children to play extremely violent video games and watch tv unsupervised every single day. Kids see and hear so much worse on regular television. Those idiots over at BH (didn't even know they changed their name) just never stop looking for some way to hoist themselves onto a high horse. What is really deplorable, far more than showing a woman's breast, is hypocricy.
Posted by: Maria at February 3, 2004 03:03 PMI'm taking a break from painting...smoking too much, drinking way too much coffee...I have to tell you this one...I'm so pissed..4 Star General Lord here...well he wants to make this whole entire base "smoke free"..can't smoke in your car, outside..nowhere baby and these non smokers are yelling "Yeah"...let's see how they react when ole General Lord wants to outlaw something they like. I don't like this General thinking he can govern our personal lives. I've contacted my state representative in Georgia and here in Colorado. I"m suggesting to everyone here they do the same..pandoras box is fixin to open if we allow base commanders to start laying down the law in our homes. Oh..think I'll light another Marloboro..fucking General Lord man...
