You Gotta Be - Des'Ree

I have always loved this song...

Listen as your day unfolds
Challenge what the future holds
Try and keep your head up to the sky
Lovers, they may cause you tears
Go ahead release your fears
Stand up and be counted
Don't be ashamed to cry

You gotta be
You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold
You gotta be wiser, you gotta be hard
You gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger
You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm
You gotta stay together

All I know, all I know, love will save the day
Herald what your mother said
Readin' the books your father read
Try to solve the puzzles in your own sweet time
Some may have more cash than you
Others take a different view
my oh my heh, hey

Don't ask no questions, it goes on without you
Leaving you behind if you can't stand the pace
The world keeps on spinning
You can't stop it, if you try to
This time it's danger staring you in the face
oh oh oh
Remember

You gotta be
You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold
You gotta be wiser, you gotta be hard
You gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger
You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm
You gotta stay together

Definitely love that song. I have a couple of her albums; thanks for reminding me that there's good music in my collection worth giving a listen to after all this time!

A good song, indeed.

Sure is a lot easier to keep up to date here than over at ole' BH. Good thing too, cuz my schedule just got REALLY busy in the last week and doesn't look like it's letting up anytime soon! Hope you all are doing great!

Hi Lee! Glad you dropped in.

Speaking of BH, I have to admit I'm a little curious about what's the haps over there. I'm such a sucker.

Hi Maria!
I've been back since Monday, but so far the conversations have been on (rather grim) subjects that I have nothing of importance to add to except for being sorry to hear about them. Guess I was just waiting for someone to start chatting about something I could sneak into :)

I can't help you with BH; since they went to the new system I haven't even looked so Choses and Sandy will probably have to fill you in on that. It's fine with me cuz since I started tutoring summer classes last week I've picked up 5 students and I've been pretty swamped. Most are ok, but I've got a wrestler that gives new meaning to "box of rocks." I hate to say bad about anyone, because he is really one of the nicest kids and I'm a really patient guy, but it does get awfully frustrating to spend an hour on one really simple concept and still see the blank expression!! This guy is going to really be a trial for me...

I hope Mike's doing ok; hopefully he'll get occasional computer access and be able to drop a line.

Anyway, the weekend in St Louis was an absolute blast. We spent the whole time stoned and drunk; stayed up until 4am Sat night/Sun morning having "guy" time with my buddy's new neighbor (he's got a couple lesbians next door that don't socialize and no immediate guy friend neighbors; he and his wife are a great couple so I'm happy for my friends!). Sunday we got up, went to IHOP, then went to a winery and spent a pleasant 5 hours using the "hair of the dog" remedy on our hangovers. Ended up partying again until 2am Monday morning! I was exhausted when I got back!

Well, gotta get ready for another day! Hope you have a wonderful day; it's all drizzly here (yuck).

Glad you're back Lee! Sounds like you had a hellagood time on your little adventure to St. Louis.

Summer tutoring must be good mo-nay! (It's probably worth trying to tutor a box of rocks. LOL! I don't think I'd have the patience.)

Anyway, your recount of your weekend just reminded me once again, how badly I need a fun vacation, even if it's just a little minibreak like yours.

And I'm off again bright and early tomorrow morning! Got a "field trip" with the research group to Fermilab National Accelerator in Chicago; nerd stuff :) It's really cool, I went last year and loved it; it's a four mile particle accelerator ring where they collide protons and antiprotons at high speed and see what pops out! Cool stuff (http://www.fnal.gov/); plus they have a buffalo herd :) After that we're going to Taste of Chicago.

Last weekend was a blast; you should really take yourself at least a mini-vacation!

Actually, the pay tutoring sucks; it's the only downfall. But I get to tutor athletes, and even with a ton of rocks, it's all worth it when you see that light bulb click and watch someone get excited when they understand. I had a female gymnast last semester that was a pleasure to tutor (besides for the obvious reasons :) because she just got so excited. I went to a couple of her matches; I caught a t-shirt when they were being introduced at one and she took it and got all the girls to sign it for me. It's hanging on the wall now, and I can't wait to go to some soccer and volleyball matches.

Well, I'm gonna read up on the new stuff and try to get to bed since I gotta get up at 5am! Nite-nite...
