Simpático

Well, it doesn't surprise me at all that Rio de Janeiro is the "friendliest city in the world."

My boyfriend is Brazilian and all of his family lives there. And I'm telling you, mi hombre es una persona fantástica. So it's no big surprise that his people have gained recognition as being some of the nicest in the world.

On the other hand "residents in Kuala Lumpur, New York, Singapore and Amsterdam are the least likely to help strangers in need, which made theirs the least friendly cities in a survey of 23 countries." Hmmm. Why am I SO not surprised?

Seriously, there are so many wonderful things about New York that you will not find anywhere else in the world. Someone asked me yesterday "what's your favorite thing to do that is specific to New York?" I said "Just sitting in the passenger's seat of a car and watching the scenery go by. Observing all of the things that make New York different from any place I've ever been. The people, the nooks and crannies, life imitating art and art imitating life. Oh, and shopping." So there is that. There is magic. But there is also just way too many aggravating day to day occurences, not to mention that it has ranked the most expensive city in the United States.

Sometimes people are so rude you just want to go fucking postal and start mowing them down. Oh god, did I say that? See that's what this city does to you. It makes you aggro. You stop caring who you shove out of the way or whose foot you step on. You stop having compassion and you just start to think about yourself. How YOU are going to get to work on time, how YOU are going to be most comfortable in a cramped space, how YOU are going to accomplish what YOU need to accomplish, regardless of who is in your way. It's such a highstrung world/mentality.

When I lived in Oregon I was tired of all the lollygagging around that people did, the snail's pace, the total lack of urgency in every day activities. But after living in New York a few years, I now comprehend the value of such an environment. I realize now that I am exactly one half citygirl and one half countrygirl. I could never be happy resigning myself completely to one or the other. Month after month in the fast pace, my body aches for tranquility. Month after month in tranquility, I become stircrazy.

Anyway, courtesies are rare enough in NY that when they are extended, you feel privileged and it can make a person's whole day. I try not to be one of those me, me, me people. Someone who can relax and not find myself aggravated by pointless little mishaps or just simply being rubbed the wrong way by a stranger in a crowded space. But there are definitely many days where I fail and find my blood boiling over.

Recently I was waiting for the train and when it came this man stepped right in front of me and when the doors opened he didn't wait for anyone to get off, he just barreled through (this is one of the majorly rude things that people do all the time). After waiting for the other people to come off the train and getting on myself I said "wow, that was really rude what you just did" He just gave me a blank glance and turned his back. I rolled up the Stuff magazine I had in my hand and wacked him on the shoulder with it and said "HEY! Don't you fucking pretend like you can't hear me." He looked at me with another blankoid glance and again, ignored me. That is just so typical. But you know, I usually tell people when I think they're being rude because I hate that whole NY attitude of standing by and watching shit happen and not doing or saying anything about it. People will stand by and watch the most unbelievable things (much worse than having someone shove you) and just be silent because they don't want to be the one who speaks out in the crowd. Well fuuuck that. Ain't nobody going to keep me from sayin what's on my mind.

Wasn't I talking about Brazil? Yeah, it's time to go there for a visit. Can you tell how bad I need a minibreak?

Speaking of friendly and rude people...I hope I won't disspell the Southern Hospitality thing..but I've found people out west alot more friendlier than down south. My experience is w/small towns in the south that if you travel through one you better be kin to somebody or ain't nobody talking to you. I went back to Cochran, GA a few years ago to see the house my granny lived in. I stopped off at one of those gas station/fried chicen hut/fishing worms store..seriously they had the fried chicken in an old ice cream bin with a piece of cardboard that sepearated the worms..anyway no one was friendly to me..they just stared. Finally one lady asked, "You got business here?" I told who my grandmother was and only than did I get a smile and a greeting. My husband is from Illinois and the first time we traveled to Georgia he went inside a gas station to ask how to get back on the interstate (we got lost)..he came back to the car and said, "they wouldn't talk to me"..See there were some good ole'boys behind the register and they didn't like Jasons accent or lack of one. So I waltzed in, said, "Hey fellas, how 'bout ya'll telling me how to get back on the interstate"...they were more than happy to help me. I said, "I thank you kindly" and they told me to "have a safe trip darlin'"...My husband was beyond furious...The people here in the west are just awesome and there is no such thing as meeting a stranger here...but I would be too scared to live in New York..I've watched WAY too many movies..haha.

So... what was this about someone thinking they weren't cool enough to be heckled?

Sure you are!!!

BOO! GET OFF YOUR BLOG!!!! YOU SUCK!!!
You have been officially heckled on International Heckling Day.
No, you were heckled. Do not try to come back with something clever, or I shall return to heckle you some more.

Heh! Heh!

Wow Eric, if you were a fish I'd be eating you for dinner. You took that bait hook, line n sinker. Bring it on Biaaatch.

Sandy:

The scariest thing about NY is how much it fucking costs to live here! Example: tonight I went to the grocery store and bought a small bag of groceries, i.e., salad, chicken, a salmon filet, and a couple of other items. ONE bag. $59.95. Dinner for a couple of days. Do you know that a package of bacon costs nearly $5.00? Does it cost that much where you are? It just makes me want to choke.

As for the south, I drove through one time by myself, from NY to New Orleans. I was cautious about where and when I stopped because I have always believed that the south is just teeming with serial killers. I met a Mexican in Alabama who had the craziest damn accent I've ever witnessed. Spanish/southern drawl. My brain was not prepared to process that. Other than that I really didn't talk to anybody most of the way. I've never seen deliverance, but I've heard all about it.

Maria,

Check it out. I just REGISTERED to post at BH...

It's a whole new ball game. I will be "dispatched and e-mail" giving me instructions as to how to proceed from their heirarchy!!!!

Yikes. Sounds like an exclusive Country Club.

Posted by: Chosesinconnues at June 19, 2003 09:45 PM

OH my fucking GAWD..how do you afford to eat? The wages up there must be high...I shop at the commissary on base most of the time..I just bought 3 mangos for $1 yesterday..they were huge..kiwis 6 for a $1.
But I bet your salmon is alot better than the crap we get..sometimes we'll get a freezer truck from Alaska, they come every couple months and the fish is out of this world, but cost an arm and a leg.
HAHA..I can't believe you mentioned Deliverance..awesome flick but I'll say this about southern women since you mentioned that movie..WE ALL LOVE BURT REYNOLDS!!! He is like a God..well in my age group and over anyway...My husband learned a long time ago..don't ever say anything bad about Elvis or Burt Reynolds..I actually get pretty damn defensive...:)

Posted by: sandy at June 19, 2003 09:46 PM

Choses
Did you get in? What do you mean you registered?
I gotta see this to believe it..haha..

Posted by: sandy at June 19, 2003 09:48 PM

Oh that's weird I just posted about that on my shitty weather thread.

Yeah, I tried to sign up but it wouldn't let me because I have a hotmail account. I didn't want to put in my work email, so I just said fuckit. But I did want to post on that Barbra Streisand thread today. Did LisaS even bother to delineate one single thing that she disagreed with in Babs's little mission statement or did she just bash her for the sake of it? The least these shitstiks could do is make a point.

As for how I afford to eat, I do make A LOT more money than I ever could have made in Oregon. But it all seems the same in the end. We do get some good fish over here though. I don't know if that compensates for the outrageous cost of everything though.

Posted by: Maria at June 19, 2003 09:55 PM

I never got a confirmation on being registered..oh boy looks like I've been "ousted"..shit..I didn't even read the threads...oh well..

Posted by: sandy at June 19, 2003 09:58 PM

Hey, anyone still home? It's been a loooonng day and I just fired up the grill and mixed a Capt 'n Coke. Ready to relax!!

Never made it to NYC, but I can vouch for the south. That southern hospitality thing? If it exists I was never able to find it in over 8 years living there in different locations. The whole MS redneck stereotype I found to be true. We're pretty friendly here in IL though. I found the people in Boston to be pretty cool; don't know how they got the bad rap but they seemed alright to me while I was there! Maybe it's just my charmin' personality :)

Hey Choses, we gotta REGISTER at BH?? Not sure I'm gonna even bother now; no one (other than you) with a dissenting opinion will go through that much trouble; sounds like it's gonna be a good ole boy's club, and I'm not much into that. This looks more fun :)

Well, off to see what else is new here since this morning!

Posted by: lee at June 19, 2003 10:23 PM

What do you mean "ousted"?

Posted by: Maria at June 19, 2003 10:24 PM

I mean outsted honey...I have not been given permission to log on....but am agreeing w/lee here..choses I talk to anyway-daily-so fuck that site. I still have you guys..right? Guys? Why's it getting dark in here? Why are you locking the door? Guys?..okay that was my "scary" shit..haha..

Posted by: sandy at June 19, 2003 10:29 PM

Sandy, I can't believe YOU would be "ousted" from BH. Maria I can understand (no offense, I'm sure you know what I mean :) but you're one of the beloved regulars! Who knows what they're up to...

Posted by: lee at June 19, 2003 10:30 PM

so who's drinking!!??

Posted by: lee at June 19, 2003 10:31 PM

Beloved!!! I have a feeling that some from the BH still check out marias and they didn't like my angry post the first time I dumped them like a bad case of VD...remember LisaS even brought up marias site herself after she banned her and said "maria had issues"....I'm thinking theres no love lost for me by the management staff at BH...

Posted by: sandy at June 19, 2003 10:34 PM

I could go for a beer..:)

Posted by: sandy at June 19, 2003 10:35 PM

Ah well, then I guess if they're still checking this place out I'll be on the shitlist myself before long. I can live with that; never felt the need to have everyone's approval :) Well, you've always been one of MY beloveds!! Oh, don't tell Jason I said that; go get yourself a beer!!

Gotta flip my burgers...

Maria? Do you have issues? :)

Posted by: lee at June 19, 2003 10:40 PM

maria was just another example of how unfair they can be at the BH..steph, Roggenbuck (whom I never had a problem with personally) said way more things out of line than maria...and the funny thing about maria was we were doing a cheesey valley girl thing..telling me to gag myself w/a pitchfork kinda went w/the dialogue on that particular day...

Posted by: sandy at June 19, 2003 10:47 PM

Oh and for the record..if anyone was watching at that time..after maria was "banned' I never posted a thank you over that..I had even emailed the management asking if they'd let her back..to which I never got a response..

Posted by: sandy at June 19, 2003 10:48 PM

Very interesting... Well, they were always a little uptight; I noticed that but I enjoyed chatting with you, Choses, James (Alf), evilmike and a few others. I don't really have a problem with Roggy, but debating with him was like debating with a brick wall; he seemed to ignore anything you said and never conceded any points. I think he has his head buried in the sand. Other than that he was cool :) Steph kinda disappeared shortly after I started posting there so don't really have an opinion. Choses, of course, is my buddy now :) But he can still be an abomination if he wants!

Think my burgers are done! Yay!! Damn I'm hungry!!!!

Posted by: lee at June 19, 2003 10:55 PM

Oh I totally have issues. Can't you tell? :o)

One of the major problems I have is with fascists. I don't know why I just can't stomach them.

"I have a feeling that some from the BH still check out marias and they didn't like my angry post the first time I dumped them like a bad case of VD"

Sandy it is so weird to think of those who might lurk in the shadows. I honestly cannot believe they won't let you in...and that they never responded to your email back when I got banned! I didn't know that. That is so insane. I guess they will just not allow anyone to log on who they KNOW might disagree with some of their opinions and practices. If they weren't so uptight that site could be so much fun.

Please note that I did not ban evilmike when he told me my blog sucked when he first visited. I can handle leaving comments up even if they're not nice. BH just needs to stop being such a bunch of babies.

Posted by: Maria at June 19, 2003 11:06 PM

Roggy wasn't there to 'debate'; Roggy is a Troll.
Which is why I loved to abuse him so..:)

Saw their New And Improved BBS thingy, but I'll be deploying soon to Da Big Sandbox. Wish them luck on trying to 'moderate' the folks their site attracts....

We fly Sunday, so the next few days are going to be.....busy.

Posted by: evilmike at June 19, 2003 11:08 PM

Argh!

"residents in Kuala Lumpur, New York, Singapore and Amsterdam are the least likely to help strangers in need, which made theirs the least friendly cities in a survey of 23 countries"

They forgot Paris and Quebec.

Posted by: evilmike at June 19, 2003 11:09 PM

Is there anybody OUT there? .... Hey you, come out from behind that bush!! Hmmm, sometimes I feel like somebody's watching me!!

Damn mike, that sux man. I'm going out of town this weekend myself; my best friends are moving to St Louis and can't afford a van so I'm gonna help them with my truck. We take off Sat after I get out of work at the mall, so I'll be away from the computer all weekend. Hope I can handle the withdrawals :) Well mike, build me a sandcastle and if you see any AF guys tell 'em Lee said hi! Damn I love being a civilian! Oh, try and hang out with the Brits; if anyone there has beer, it'll be them, even if it's shitty homemade stuff!! Aww, who am I tellin'? I'm sure you already know that shit ;)

Posted by: lee at June 19, 2003 11:15 PM

"sounds like it's gonna be a good ole boy's club, and I'm not much into that. This looks more fun :)"

Lee, you are so great for my self esteem. ;)

Evilmike, safe flying to you. Stay cool. :)

Posted by: Maria at June 19, 2003 11:18 PM

maria
I spoke too soon, I got an email confirmation to the BH...but here's the kicker..I'm only allowed to browse...no posting!!!!! It actually says that..oh well.
evilmike-keep safe man and we'll be thinking of you.

Posted by: sandy at June 19, 2003 11:20 PM

Oh Maria, you've seen nothing! If you didn't have that boyfriend I'd be swelling your head up so much you wouldn't see the ground for days ;)

Damn Sandy, that clinches it; if they won't even let you post it's definitely a good ole boy's club. Well, more power to them; I won't be part of that even if I do tend to agree with them on a lot of issues. Besides, I'd rather have fun when I'm trying to relax :)

Damn these burgers are good!

Posted by: lee at June 19, 2003 11:29 PM

Oh.. I registered all right.. but have yet to receive my "dispatched confirmation" email...

I have written to Lisa twice to ask for an explantion. As was the case with the "dual personality" post by Tinsel.. she remains painfully silent.

Can anyone say... "Freedom of Speech"?????

Think she and Reilly cannot stand the dissent... OR my postings at THIS site ;-)

Posted by: Chosesinconnues at June 19, 2003 11:33 PM

lee
so true..I mean I discuss world issues at the dinner table alot..me & Jason sit up for hours and have really good debates...I need to have some fun when I'm on the net...going head to head on politics daily was wearing me thin...and to be honest I don't want to know everyones deep feelings about everything...I'll invest that kind of effort into a friend..not some whacked out strangers. You people are included in my "whacked out friends category"..haha..

Posted by: sandy at June 19, 2003 11:34 PM

Speaking of Tinseltwat...I would like to know if he got a pass for the club...I fucking bet he did...

Posted by: sandy at June 19, 2003 11:35 PM

No biggie; we can just form a new dysfunctional family here ;)

Posted by: lee at June 19, 2003 11:35 PM

Okay..we could be the new cast for Gilligans Island..for some fucking reason I'm seeing this..oh it would be just toooo good..:)

Posted by: sandy at June 19, 2003 11:37 PM

Yay! Our own club!! I have very few friends that I agree with on all issues; in fact, I have a lot that have agreed NOT to discuss certain subjects just so we can keep the friendships.

Hey Choses, if it'll make ya feel better I can send you a "confirmation" email ;)

Posted by: lee at June 19, 2003 11:39 PM

Sandra my darling friend...

A "pass"??? Trust me, Tinseldust has a lifetime memebership... he and Reilly get it on nightly ;-)

I bet 'Madbarr' makes it a threesome (ooooooooo nasty visuals go away!!!)

Posted by: Chosesinconnues at June 19, 2003 11:39 PM

Hey, I like that idea! Grass skirts, coconuts and mai tais! Damn I miss the beach; not much to do here on the nice days but stare out over the amber waves of grain... Just not as much fun!

Posted by: lee at June 19, 2003 11:40 PM

Lee??

I was "confimred" in the Episcopal Church when I was 14 and see how far THAT got me??

But you're a dear to offer :)

hehe

Posted by: Chosesinconnues at June 19, 2003 11:41 PM

Sandy??

Be careful.. they're WATHCING you... and you KNOW you're on probabtion!

Posted by: Chosesinconnues at June 19, 2003 11:42 PM

Choses
Do you think they're all proud of themselves now? They have a website that is "safe" from all of us...so in the future all postings will read
"Good job"
"Couldn't agree more"
"You took the words right out of my mouth"
"Amen"
"Kudos"
How fucking boring............glad I'll be missing that tantalizing conversation..

Posted by: sandy at June 19, 2003 11:43 PM

Hey Choses, I read you're earlier posts; you got more than "confirmed" heh heh :) Sorry, but I'm not going that far!!

Damn, I MUST have had a long day; I'm only half-way through my first drink and already starting to feel a buzz. Although it IS a LARGE drink!!

Hey Sandy, good job; couldn't agree more ;)

Posted by: lee at June 19, 2003 11:45 PM

to the BH
I'm dropping my pants...look and watch my white ass givin you the "moon"....
Yoo Hoo...kiss my grits!!!

Posted by: sandy at June 19, 2003 11:46 PM

I hate HUMBLE PIE...

Sandra.. go to your "inbox"

Posted by: Chosesinconnues at June 19, 2003 11:47 PM

Hey Sandy, careful with those drawers! I've been drinking after a long night watching scantily-clad women at the mall! Not nice to tease ;)

Kiss my grits? Vera?

Posted by: lee at June 19, 2003 11:48 PM

Choses, you been accepted man? Guess they need a "token" ;) Um, no offense was meant by that! Think you know what I mean!

Posted by: lee at June 19, 2003 11:50 PM

Yup yup..

Honest. I take EVERYTHING I said about a threesome among Reilly and Tins and Madbarr back.. Honest I do..

I am such a two-faced fuck :)

Actually, to credit where credit's due... Lisa wrote me a very amusing email.

GAWD! Now what????

Posted by: Chosesinconnues at June 19, 2003 11:53 PM

Kindly insert a "give" some place in previous posting.......

Posted by: Chosesinconnues at June 19, 2003 11:54 PM

Chose will be the 'cultured' token, and Roggy will be the 'blatant troll' token..:)

Posted by: evilmike at June 19, 2003 11:55 PM

TOKEN?????????

Yeah I'm the token fag.. but you should see me I am freaking hot man.

I have to fend them off with a rolled up newspaper (and that's just the ladies!!!)

;-)

Posted by: Choseinconnues at June 19, 2003 11:55 PM

Choses
You have a mission...go to the BH on a reconnaissance mission.get the information and report back here ASAP!!
Oh and for the record I've seen Choses..
This man is too good looking for words...What a hot tamale :)

Posted by: sandy at June 19, 2003 11:59 PM

Token? Abomination? Hey at least you're the CULTURED one! I'll take your word on your hotness; I've learned from my previous girlfriends that I haven't a clue what qualifies for hot in a man! Every time I thought I knew what they liked, they'd prove me wrong! Maybe they did it on purpose. Ah well, I've not have much trouble with the ladies myself ;) Just wish I could find some around here over 22 that are worth going out with! Not that 22's bad, but I've learned from experience that I'm getting a bit too old to keep up with that. Of course, I was tired with a smile on my face :)

Posted by: lee at June 20, 2003 12:01 AM

Well there you go; if Sandy vouches I'll take her word for it :)

Posted by: lee at June 20, 2003 12:02 AM

Notwithstanding the fear of creating a mutual admiration society.... I will gratefully acknowledge Sandy's compliment and say you fella's oughta see this gal!!

Tsssssssssst!!! Too hot. Just burned my finger.

Also... at present writing: "access [still} denied" hehe.

Posted by: Chosesinconnues at June 20, 2003 12:04 AM

Ha ha! Well, I fondly remember Sandy calling me a cutie, so her judgment MUST be impeccable! Of course I didn't get "too hot for words" so I'm glad you're not competition ;) I'm waiting to see Sandy! I'll try not to ogle and drool! Heh heh. Oh the Captain is GOOD!

Posted by: lee at June 20, 2003 12:10 AM

Nah, don't take it back...besides, I think Reilly is one of the bisexual ones, so he could dig the irony....:)

And 'madbarr' was a girl, IIRC....

You take people as they are, folks. I don't think Lisa and her crew are nearly as bad as some people make them out to be....nor are they saints.

I don't believe they are 'limiting' their BBS to 'their kind of folks' (unless the forum consists entirely of bisexual atheist RC's..:)), just trying to filter out the trolls and the freaks from the people who actually have something to say.

And sandy, from my viewpoint, it looked like you were taking BH waaaaaay too seriously. I can understand Lisa just wanting to let you 'browse' for awhile. You probably scared the hell out of her.....

But yeah, I bet they let Roggy and Tinsel back in....hopefully, if they did, they will apply the same standard to all. If they do, Tinsel and Roggy won't last long. Hopefully.

In any event, its just a website. I like it for the info and links one can find there.

None of us (well, execept Maria) would be here on her blog right now if not for BH, so there is some irony, neh?

And folks, the flight will be fine, if boring.....and I can't believe I'm going back a second time to Da Rack in the same unit I was in for Part One.....if only I was this lucky in the lottery...:)

Posted by: evilmike at June 20, 2003 12:13 AM

point taken mike...

However, if Sandy was taking it too seriously then what were Reilly and Lisas doing?

I have it on good authority that "American Girl" has been made a "moderator"???!!!

Seriously or otherwise, that is some scary shit.

Christ.. just to get in you have to fill out an employment form! What the Christ is the fear there??

Posted by: Chosesinconnues at June 20, 2003 12:20 AM

Damn man, all of a sudden you don't sound so evil... You goin' soft on us :)

Posted by: lee at June 20, 2003 12:21 AM

An employment form? Are you serious? Honestly, I haven't tried, but I'll be damned if I'm going to fill out an application! I never took it that seriously.

Posted by: lee at June 20, 2003 12:23 AM

Me scary? hmmm I think I'll go w/that...what's scary is that when I did speak out about gays in the military or being an athiest the emails I received..they were scary and the senders were the ones taking things waaaaaaaaaaay to seriously.
It might be my downfall but I'm either hot or cold, no in between. I'm passionate and won't apologize for it.

Posted by: sandy at June 20, 2003 12:29 AM

lee,

I swear man, it's like the Third Reich. Yes. A registration form. They even want to know my "hobbies"...

so.. I TOLD them (hehehehe)

Just checked my status and I'm in a 'holding pattern' called 'moderation queue' !!!

Sandy's in and giving me the scoop. She does NOT sound optimistic.

Posted by: Chosesinconnues at June 20, 2003 12:32 AM

Aaah yes, the powers that be finally let me in.
American Girl is a moderator
alfredo is a junior memeber
Didn't see Tinsel, could be using another name
they have a TOP 10 posters section...
Tedintheshed is registered and Roggenbuck.(junior members also)
I didn't nor will I post, just curious..it's ummmmm like a fucking high school club or something...

Posted by: sandy at June 20, 2003 12:36 AM

Didn't see commonfolk either....choses-u know she's freakin!!!

Posted by: sandy at June 20, 2003 12:37 AM

Dammit Choses, if I had a dog he would've just leaped across the room :)

Sandy, you shouldn't have to apologize! There's nothing worse than someone who tries to be someone he or she's not...

Posted by: lee at June 20, 2003 12:38 AM

You know, after Jeni's email to Lisa I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't get back on.

Top 10 posters???? Good lord. There's just so many ways that is ALL WRONG! Gee, if you behave long enough can you get a certificate suitable for framing??

Posted by: lee at June 20, 2003 12:40 AM

Hey, why don't we all exchange ICQ numbers? might be easier to chat...I'm off to bed now..gotta a big day planned..c ya'll later.

Posted by: sandy at June 20, 2003 12:47 AM

But no one could spy on us then :) I don't actually have ICQ. Suppose I could download it again but I think they're one of the programs that throws spyware on your computer. I have Yahoo IM though.

Nite nite!

Posted by: lee at June 20, 2003 12:49 AM

I'm saving my evil for Baath Party members and fundementalist religious whacko's....:)

*field strips his M16A2 again*

They made "AG" a mod?

Jesus wept.

Posted by: evilmike at June 20, 2003 02:09 AM

Well hell, in that case you can be all buttercups and tulips if you like if it means unleashing more hell on those bastards! Just picture them as teletubbies :)

Posted by: lee at June 20, 2003 02:52 AM

Christ I love that expression "Jesus wept".

It was my mother's favorite expletive of frustration.

*Choses incorporates it back into his vocabulary*

Thanks MIGUEL!

Evilmike is right. None of you would be here without BH and for that I should send them a box of brownies. Because I really like having you guys here. But that doesn't change the fact that THEY are ridiculous requiring all that nonsense just to log on and make a comment.

I don't have ICQ either, but I have AIM.?

My boyfriend asked me last night "aren't those all the people you disagreed with on BH?" It actually kind of irked me that he would think that because we disagreed on a couple of crucial issues, that we were incapable of finding common ground and I found myself getting a little defensive. I'm glad we have. Believe me, I have been around enough to know that everyone is not always going to agree with me. It's a fact of life. But I'm so glad that we can all be friends despite our differences. That's what "peace" is. Being compassionate and open to others, notwithstanding diversity. I would hope that all of you would feel comfortable telling me how you REALLY feel on any level and not censoring yourselves for my sake.

CHEERS!

Just make sure they're "special" brownies; you know, the kind that are almost legal in Canada ;)

Do you really feel I've been censoring myself? Hee hee; not my style! Cheers back atcha Maria!

No I definitely don't think you've been censoring yourself, Lee, and I'm glad. I just thought I'd throw that in there as a indication that I appreciate everyone's honesty.

Mmmm. Special brownies. I think I need to run an errand...and hell no I ain't goin all the way to Canada! :) Giddyup!

I'll send ya my address; gettin' a case of the munchies myself ;)

Sure glad Sandy brought me here. Just so ya know, I have two different astrophysics research jobs, so I spend ALL my time on a computer. That's why I always seem to be here; it gives me a nice little break from programming. Thanks for the pleasant diversion ;)

I have the ONLY brownie recipe. ;o)

And Lee, you don't owe me an explanation for why you're on the computer all the time silly! The only time I am not near a computer is when I am on the train. LOL! Astrophysics research. Dude, you must be seriously booksmart. That stuff makes my brain HURT.

Yup, I'm a big nerd! But I am trying to bring a little "GQ" to the physics profession; I don't fit the nerd profile ;)

Glad you're feeling better!
